BIO-Europe Spring 2018
Vienna will host the renowned BIO-Europe Spring conference in 2019. Engage with the right partners at Europe’s largest springtime biotech partnering event. This meeting is the counterpart to BIO-Europe in autumn and offers opportunities for start-ups, biotech & pharma service providers, the finance sector, and global players to meet one another and explore new collaborations and investments. In 2018, almost 2,500 attendees from more than 1,400 companies joined the event and scheduled some 14,500 one-to-one meetings.

Who is it for?
This program targets young life sciences companies worldwide developing innovative products and services. All start-ups from that are addressing a clear unmet need in biotech, bioeconomy and beyond are invited to apply for this program. Please submit your proposal by February 25, 2019 at the latest.

Do not miss out on the evening receptions on March 25 and March 26 as these provide great opportunities for informal meetings and to continue discussions you have started during one of your pre-scheduled Meetings

Life Sciences in Vienna
Vienna can look back on an excellent scientific tradition in the field of medical research. Semmelweis, Billroth and Landsteiner are part of this history. The outstanding reputation of the Vienna Medical Schools of the past is carried on today – in academia and on the business side. Vienna’s life sciences community has experienced significant growth for many years. In 2017, a total of 554 companies, research institutions and further core organizations were active in the life science sector in Vienna, having a combined workforce of 37,595 people.
Vienna’s outstanding geographical position and its ranking as offering the best quality of life in the world, make the city an ideal place for marketing products across Europe. All pharmaceutical and medical device companies ranked in the top five worldwide by annual sales have a presence in Vienna. In addition to the international companies, a dynamic start-up scene has been developing since the 1990s. 481 biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies produce or develop products and processes in these fields in Vienna or are active as suppliers, service or sales companies. These enterprises employed 22,930 people and generated 12.2 billion euros in sales in 2017. Thereof, 177 companies (37%) carry out research or develop and produce innovative products.

What we offer
Within the “Discover Vienna: Life Sciences” Program the Vienna Business Agency promotes the following expenses for one beneficiary per company/start-up with a percentage of 50% up to a maximum amount of EUR 2.500,--
BIO-Europe Spring 2019 ticket
Expenses for accommodation up to a maximum of 14 days
Desk in a co-working space up to a maximum of 14 days
Conditions of participation
This program targets life sciences companies developing innovative products and services that want to grow their network in Vienna. Only companies not older than 8 years will be considered. Companies in the proof-of-concept / prototype stage or beyond will be preferred. Start-ups from Austria are not eligible to apply.

The Vienna Business Agency will evaluate the applications together with LISAvienna and select up to 10 candidates. Please make sure to meet the conditions of participation before filing an application. Otherwise, your company will not be considered.
