About Paris

With a population of 12 million inhabitants, Paris Region is France's leading economic region and one of Europe's foremost business hubs. The French capital is characterized by a strong and diversified economic landscape, with an extraordinary concentration of large companies.

In fact, Paris is first in Europe for the number of Fortune 500 headquarters and 3rd worldwide (Fortune Global 500 - 2015). With more than 10,000 startups and 260 innovation spaces, like incubators, accelerators or co-working spaces, Paris Region’s startup ecosystem has seen tremendous growth over the last years, featuring success stories like Blablacar, Criteo, Deezer, Talend, Captain Train and many more.

In addition to a strong funding environment, one of Paris’s USP’s is the availability of technical talent and know-how: it counts 4 business schools among the TOP 15 in Europe, 70 “Grandes écoles” (elite schools) and universities and more than 646,000 students of whom 100,000 foreigners. This has attracted in particular tech giants like Samsung, Facebook, Google or Cisco, that all recently expanded their R&D capacities in Paris. Last but not least, Paris is welcoming Station F, the world’s largest startup campus with 34,000 sqm for up to 1000 startups, recently opened this year.
